Scottish National Spring Clean Now Under Way
19 April 2007
Witchwood Ponds - Before, During & After
Keep Scotland Beautiful's National Spring Clean is now taking place in communities across the length and breadth of Scotland. The campaign encourages people to help clean up our country by organising or taking part in a litter-pick in their own area. So far, around 9,000 have signed up to take part.

In the Renfrewshire town of Linwood, schools, nurseries, churches, members of the local council, the Green Gym and a variety of community groups all decided to get involved. Their clean up of a country walk alone resulted in 150 bags of litter, broken glass, plastic bottles, tyres, scrap metal, fence wire - and even a satellite dish!

Elsewhere, Witchwood Ponds in North Lanarkshire (see pictures on the right) was given a makeover when Townhead Primary assisted their local Countryside Ranger in a clean up of the area - even though it was during the school holidays!
