Re:Clippens Road - 2007/04/12 09:49 SSP-69, A message for you.
I've read through this whole website today and even added a few messages myslef. It's a good community ebsite with great information. the vast majority of articles and comments are about what is best for the whole community. Maybe your messages stick out because of your socialism message at the bottom of every comment you make, but personally they stick out because everything you have written is " Me - Me - Me". I's time you looked at Linwood as a whole and looked at what is best for everyone that lives here. You are only 1 of over 7000.
I too see and hear the cars on Clippens Road - but I don't struggle to cross there. My problem areas are in the villiage or when I walk to Asda and there are plenty other like me.
Speed bumps, cameras, traffic calming we need in Clippens Road but certainly not a Zebra crossing.

Kashmir Road is not that busy with people crossing the road.

[b]I do not know where your eyes are. Kashmir Ave is a well used area. There are lots of dog walkers who use this daily! I don't own a dog myself but use the Riverside Walk every week as does family and friends, most with young children which does make it very difficult and dangerous to cross here.

I stay near this road and as I said before it is just a continuation of the Clippens Road and IS used by motorists in the same respect.

Take a walk around the whole of Linwood, it will open your eyes to the various problems and maybe you can add some positive feedback which will be of use to the community!

Re:Clippens Road - 2008/08/08 22:43 I have noticed that it aint only Clippens Rd/Kashmir Ave/Bridge St that are being used as racetracks, Bridge Of Weir Rd is being used as a race track as well now, "during the day by the trucks and buses and by night by the boy racers and their cars".

The dump trucks,40ft lorrys, certain long buses and certain bin trucks think they have seen a big green light and try for the quickest time for clearing B.O.W Rd/ Clippens Rd/Kashmir Rd.

Just a pity they are going that fast that there registration plates can't be seen, so these constant offenders can be reported too the police, i would hate too see a kid or a penisoner or anyone for that fact being run down or worse by one of these culprits. As for the crossing Kashmir Ave from the start of Linwood too the Clippens Roundabout it is a game of "Roll The Dice", even Kintyre Ave is being used as a race track from the boy racers too the neds on scooters/dirtbikes.

The Roads on Bridge St - B.O.W Rd and Clippens Rd are BADLY In need of repair due too the heavy traffic, i have seen some quite big potholes that even a mini could fit into even thou 90% of road users pay their expensive road tax.

On a lighter note there are more offenders using the Clippens Rd during the day, just ask the BSM instructor who mounted the pavement narrowly missing me and my wife just so she could skip passed the car waiting too turn into Abernethy Dr and get her child too the lady of peace school in time

Re:Clippens Road - 2008/08/20 19:11 Some good news on the speeding front, Clippens Rd is now being changed from an advisory to a statutory 20 M.P.H as reported in the Paisley Daily Express.

"The new order will replace the current advisory “please slow down” 20 mph speed restriction and replace it with a statutory 20mph restriction which will apply when the warning lights are flashing.

The new speed limit rules will apply to Clippens Road from its junction with Craig Road to the junction with Cowal Drive and will extend into Stirling Drive past the High school and into Brediland Road and Erskinefauld Road. It will also apply to Abernethy Drive and into Lauder Drive."

Here is hoping that other roads in the area will be made safer for the community.

Re:Clippens Road - 2008/09/28 00:23 well ive lived on clippens road for 20 yrs so i think i can make fair comment. the top shop carpark can people not use their noggin and not park in front of the lockups.its just as well i try and get my car out the lockup 1/2 hr before i leave for work. i'll give you an example.i go out to get the car out and surprise surprise theres a car parked in front of it. this day in particular i was running late so i had 25 mins to get to work. i went into every shop and asked "does anyone own the car etc" i go to the hairdressers and ask the same thing again. the woman is getting her hair washed. i explained i needed her to move her car. her reply was "do you really need me to move the car. can you not wait." i am never cheeky but i said yes i want her car moveed or she can pay my wages. she hummed and hawed and the strolls out to her car. so ignorant. please spare a thought for us lockup owners.SSP_69 wrote:

due the fact that i've lived on the clippens road for many a year

I think you are being biased as you say you have lived on the Clippens Road for many years. If you could look at Linwood as a whole you would see there are other roads that need crossings.

Kashmir Ave is a continuation of the Clippens Road and you could say the same that this is used as a race track and short cut to get to Bridge Of Weir Houston ect.

As for Bridge Street I have not seen any accidents here but I have on most days seen elderly people and mothers/fathers with prams struggling and taking unnecessary chances to cross a road. Isn't life short enough?!

Kashmir Road is not that busy with people crossing the road. I witness this everyday while driving in and out and living in the Area. But Compared to The Clippens Road.

On Bridge Street their are Islands in the middle of the road to help people cross and most of the day the road is rather empty and quite easy to cross!

Kev. Their is no crossing Islands on the CLippens Road. And the Crossing are ignored. Yes I would love to have Speed Cops on this Road For 1 day ctaching all the "CENSORED" Drivers that use infront my house as a racing track and this goes for in the middle of the nite woith mini drag races with people racing.

Post edited by: editor, at: 2007/04/12 14:17
